Oh they still do it but pay heed to increased attention choirs that are often brought directly forefront recording. Kalmah seem to have found their sound and it suits them quite well. It goes to show that over time the swamp really does rot into something far more sinister and wicked as progresses this album prime example

  • Quite a prominent element on this album that drew my attention are the slightly warlike chants sound as if they coming from Swamplord own personal army Swampwar Hook Monster. Songs like Bullets Are Blind Hook The Monster and One Of Fail with their burly riffs dynamic drumming keen sense harmonies rule. As mentioned in of the other reviews above Gauge is indeed strange name for Kalmah album and was apprehensive about it to say leastespecially since seemed they were straying from their balls approach music with previous more mellow releasebut after listening Bullets Are Blind single sure this would be something look forward

  • Even the emotive closer Sacramentum comes off as endearing this time around. My only gripe is with maybe Sacramentum which slow to develop into the cinematic closer wants . This mistake bigger than me thinking album going to be fail

  • Gauge is Kalmahs th studio album and was released February under Spinefarm Records. With the exception of previously mentioned acoustic interludes album is pretty much full fucking go entire way through and while this isn always bad thing feel like parts could have been used bit more to break things up

    • One of Fail wastes no time in following through glorious atmospheric charge that becomes even more mighty the bridge riff erupts and this got some nice leads there. Oh they still do it but pay heed to increased attention choirs that are often brought directly forefront recording
